Dealing with PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is more common than most people think. According to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, about 8 million adults in the U.S. have PTSD during a given year, and 7-8% will have PTSD at some point in their lives.

“Normal events,” such as a loved one’s sudden death, can be traumatic for most individuals. But when does a trauma become a disorder?
